So it's day two of zRex ownership and all's going well, and i'm feeling inspired :nodyes:

it needs a few things here and there so i'm looking for ideas on upgrades and swappables as some bits on the bike are damaged or don't work reet good :nodyes:

now the zzr11 cam swap has been mentioned already, but that's not something i'm looking at doing just yet, nor is spraying it matt black or silver or slicing it to bits

anyway :nodyes:

the previous owner decided to modify the right side lever by dropping the bike... so the bar ends are scuffed and sharp and could do with been changed.

also the mirrors are fairly useless.... despite pissing about with them they don't catch much of anything other than the jacket

so new mirrors are on the cards, but im not into bar end mirrors as they make filtering a pain in the arse

also think some wider bars would look good too :nodyes: and feel more comfortable :nodyes:

wouldn't mind getting the seat done too :nodyes:

now i've also heard the little diamond rubber in the radiator causes problems?
also any other popular mods that make life easier?

most of you know i bought the VN in april, i've been using it as everyday hack since, today i had to ride my wife's zx6 into work(to get it ready for her trip to the TT) what a difference from the cruiser. its funny how you change riding styles (or at least i do) without realizing it. hers was quiet, quick & really responsive to brakes, throttle etc, while the cruiser is, well a cruiser-and an old one at that !

up until 3 years ago i was used to jumping on any of the training school bikes & just getting on with it, then jumping on the zx12 to go home-never gave it a second thought, never had problems with different styles of bike, clutch bites etc.

i must be getting old.:big grin:

i've been wavering on wether to sell the 12, based on a number of reasons, but mainly i've lost my "mojo" with it. its been a long time since i made an excuse to go out for a ride, but i find i'm doing that more & more with the VN.

even my beloved chop has taken a back seat(mostly due to any money i had earmarked for the chop went on the cruiser)

my wife hasnt made any comment about the VN, but i knew she thought it was an old mans bike, but you know what? i dont give a fuck, its brought a fucking big grin to my face every time i've ridden it-its just a shame i sold it back in 2005-and took until now to buy it back again.:nodyes:

Since me boy decided he wanted to hop in the saddle of a bike, weve been taking him to lessons to learn, hes only 7.
he goes to a place they have masses of off road land - start them off on tarmac to get them used to the bike and able to handle it then up on a small dirt track - eventually around a larger track and then once youve shown your capable of riding and handling a bike you can either go off and ride on your own or progress further and learn trials where you can then train with the aim of taking parts in trial competitions - me lad's been going a few month now and passed his assesment to be able to ride on his own, so we bought him a small bike of his own to play around on.
this is him on their hire bike - TT90

i picked up this pw80 but as you can see it aint the best condition it could be in, so i stripped it right down, tidied it all up and hopefully at the ned he should have a fairly decent little bike

engine looking better

back in the frame

brakes etc all sorted out and back up on wheels

highened the rear end so it aint sagging down and bottoming out all the time and had the seat recovered

all thats really left now is to get it decal'd up before i hand it over to him - initially i was thinking a kenny roberts theme, but i went with sheened 1982 500 - sorry about the MS paint very roughly drawn pic but you get a general idea of where im heading

is it just me? my cruiser thing has a 150/90/15 rear thats been on for about 9 years that i know of, its got plenty of tread, but its gone hard(ooh err missus)

its a pirelli mt66 which they no longer make, the modern equivalent doesnt exsist, although i can get a front tyre from pirelli, a corsa or something thats more suited to a sportsbike.

the front tyre on the cruiser is an old avon roadrunner from god knows when, its too big(the edges have been worn down by the front mudguard) so that has to go.

you might think it would be easy to get hold of a matched pair of H rated tyres for not a lot of money?

£180 for a pair of conti/s is the best i can do.
all my birthday money:shakeno: gone,

still, if it will now apex an s bend without wanting to visit a hedge backwards in the wet, its a bargain.....
this was supposed to be a cheap runabout:wink:
